Probation Office

• Public Service Work - Offenders work for non-profit agencies in the community to help make amends for wrong-doing. (Adult and Juvenile)
• Men Challenging Violence - A program for Domestic Violence cases facilitated by the Community Resource Center. (Adult)
• Drug Testing - Tests are given randomly by the probation office to clients on probation or supervision. The cost of tests to the defendant is $20. (Adult)
• Victim Impact Panel - The panel is for DUI offenders. This course is offered online. It is the offender's responsibility to pay for the course and provide verification of completion to the probation department.
• Electronic Monitoring - A GPS-based monitoring device is placed on the probationer's ankle and is tracked with GPS.  If the probationer is out of their zone or in places they are not supposed to be, a probation officer and law enforcement is notified immediately.  Cost is $10 per day.  (Adult and Juvenile).
• Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) - Systematic, cognitive behavioral, step-by-step treatment strategy designed to enhance self-image, promote the growth of a positive, productive identity, and facilitate the development of high stages of moral reasoning. (Adult)
• Administrative Sanctions - In response to Public Act 89-198, the Fourth Judicial Circuit Probation and Court Services Departments have developed an Administrative Sanctions Program to ensure swift, certain and equitable sanctions for technical violations of adult and juvenile offenders sentenced to probation. The purpose of the program is to respond to all identified technical violations of probation in a consistent manner that considers the risk and needs of the offenders, is proportional to the risk to the community and utilizes the least restrictive response to achieve long-term positive behavioral change.
• Drug Court - Drug Courts are the most effective justice intervention for treating drug-addicted people. Drug Courts reduce drug use. Drug Courts reduce crime. Drug Courts save money. Drug Courts restore lives. Drug Courts save children and reunite families. Eligible drug-addicted persons may be sent to Drug Court in lieu of traditional justice system case processing. Drug Courts keep individuals in treatment long enough for it to work, while supervising them closely. Participants are: provided with intensive treatment and other services they require to get and stay clean and sober; held accountable by the Drug Court judge for meeting their obligations to the court, society, themselves and their families; regularly and randomly tested for drug use; required to appear in court frequently so that the judge may review their progress; and rewarded for doing well or sanctioned when they do not liveup to their obligations.
