Job Requirements

The EMA Coordinator will be responsible for fulfilling all duties in accordance with the requirements outlined by the State of Illinois and local guidelines. The Coordinator will oversee emergency preparedness activities, maintain all EMA equipment and records, coordinate volunteer activities, and ensure compliance with reporting obligations.

Position Details:

  • Status: Part-Time (Approximately 20 hours per week)
  • Compensation: $28.85 per hour
  • On-Call Requirements: The Coordinator must be available for emergencies outside regular hours

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work an average of 20 hours per week, adjusting schedule as necessary for emergencies
  • Submit required reports to the State of Illinois or other agencies in a timely manner
  • Oversee, screen, and coordinate EMA volunteers
  • Maintain mileage and use logs for EMA vehicles
  • Maintain current inventory and ensure proper storage and inspection of EMA equipment
  • Coordinate maintenance and readiness of emergency equipment
  • Attend monthly County Board meetings to report on EMA activities

Qualifications:

  • Prior emergency management or public safety experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to respond to emergencies at any time
  • Familiarity with 29 Illinois Administrative Code 301 is a plus
